Can't resist

These photos were taken at some point over the weekend.

The chickens are getting much more at ease with us. Peggy-O is the most tame and easy-going, Dupree is the most skittish (black & white) & Jenny Jankins is indifferent.

Ruby is now 9 months, still sitting for long periods of time. She really isn't interested in exploring. I guess all the fun comes to her. When she is on her tummy she just kicks her legs like a frog swimming & her arms are scooping through the air. Ruby might find swimming in her future if she keeps this up. She is a fabulous eater, no discrimination's. Loves fruit, veggies, grains, legumes etc etc. Milo has also become a fabulous eater of vegetables. He tried and finished his first strawberry. He won't eat another one. He is very finicky with fruit.

Firsts

Milo said farewell to his crib that has been his place of rest for the first 2.5 years. Eric and I spent the first half of Saturday diligently assembling the bunk beds while Ruby took her long nap. Milo was eager to help but from our point of view he wasn't much help, he was more in the way than anything. Eric and I looked at each other and said, "Milo, the tv is fixed, would you like to watch a movie?" I am sure you can all guess the answer that he quickly gave. YES. On went the television and Milo quietly watched a movie while Eric and I almost completed the bed. Ruby awoke from her nap so I had to attend to her and Eric continued his bed assembly chore.

Another first was Milo putting on a wetsuit, getting on a surfboard, riding the board with dad out in the ocean, & Ruby thought that putting sand in her mouth was funny & tasty. Enjoy

The crib is now in the guest room, Ruby is now sleeping in a crib and I do believe she likes it very much. Lots of firsts, Milo in big boy beds and Ruby in a crib.

Young Chefs

I went down to Manhattan Beach to meet up with my mom, sis & babies.Poppi (my mom) saw some pictures of other babies like this and she wanted to do it with her grand-babies. We had a blast watching the kids expressions. There was probably 1 photo where all 4 of the kids looked at the camera at the same time. Too bad we didn't get a video of all of us, it was pretty funny stuff.

About Time

Today Milo, Ruby & I spent the day with a good friend of mine all the way back from junior high & high school. Holly has 2 boys, Liam (4) with grandma today & Tait (2). Milo & Tait played while the girls hung out. What I learned from Holly is that she has an evening routine that they pretty much abide by. Starts with a dinner around 6pm. All 4 of the family members sit down at the dinner table and dine together. Wow what a concept. I have for the longest time catered to Milo's finickiness when it comes to food. So I make Milo one thing to insure that he eats a good meal and then hours later once he is off to bed Eric and I eat our dinner. I have to say I have had enough of this and I was completely motivated to try out this family dinner at a decent time. So...........

I got home from Holly's with the intention of the kids taking a nap and me hitting the cupboards to see what Eric, myself and Milo could eat for dinner. Falafals, hummus, salad. Sounds like a successful dinner to me. So I start in on preparing the falafal balls when Ruby decides that napping today wasn't for her. I put on the ergo and carried her on my back while I continue to prep for din din. I have the salad prepared, the balls are cooling and everything else is ready to go. I even had time to feed ruby her dinner before Eric got home. Ok, one kid quiet, happy and full, 1 to go. Eric walks in from work and says he is bummed he can't eat with us. WHAT!!!! I say. "I told you about the business dinner that I have tonight." Exclaims Eric. "Oh yeah, I forgot and I had things to talk about and a new routine that is starting tonight." How in the world am I going to feed ruby down, eat dinner with Milo, keep him quiet while ruby is getting her last milk intake of the night. Some how I did it all. Milo ate in his new high chair (courtesy of Tait) at the table, I was eating the same thing as he was and Ruby was content playing with toys while we ate. As Milo was still eating I quickly prepared Ruby's bottle, feed her in her room all the while Milo was playing quietly and eating the rest of his dinner. BTW, he loved the entire meal.

I hope this is a new routine for the evenings here at the Lyman pad. The other newest thing going on is that I told Milo that the TV is broken. he is doing very well w/o it. The last thing I hope to succeed with today is having milo in bed around 8, no more of this 9 - 9:30 bed time. I want some personal time with my husband before the new day starts.

Creation

A gloomy Friday Summer morning. One sleeping baby, one T.V. obsessed toddler boy, what is a mom to do? Create a family blog for viewers to enjoy. I am very new to blogging so I have a strong feeling that my page will be changing a lot in the first month. I am eager to find the look that I will be happy with so that I can focus on the content and not so much on the appearance.
