For the past 4 or more years Donnell and our mom try to get together for a girls weekend to celebrate our birthdays. Last weekend we all meet at El Capitan Canyon just a little north of Santa Barbara. This is a beautiful place with great rugged cabins that makes you feel like you are out in the woods but have the luxuries of a heater, cozy bed, shower, coffee maker and other small emenities. Milo and Ruby came along for a few hours on Friday, we had a sweet birthday celebration for Milo since Auntie D and Poppi hadn't seen him in a little while. Milo couldn't wait to dive into presents and cake.

The three of us enjoyed a great mountain top hike that had wonderful views of the whole Santa Barbara Channel and then to the North was the San Rafael Wilderness. After the hike we enjoyed some wine and a cat nap, then right into wood collecting, fire starting, food preparing and fireside lounging.
The day went way too fast, before we knew it we were packing up on Sunday morning to checkout and depart onto our next couple of adventures. I took them to Elwood to enjoy the Monarch Butterfly migration, which was spectacular.  Soon after that I went home and they were on the road to their homes. One weekend a year together is just no enough. I love you ladies, thank you for sharing a weekend with me. I look forward to our adventure next year.
